“know Your Faith Project (Kyfp)” In Epe Deanery
The Apostolate of the Laity (Apostolicam Actuositatem) Council is such that it works to promote and coordinate the lay apostolate initiatives and zeal amongst Catholics, lay organizations and groups in the Church.
Moreover, the Fathers of the faith increasingly urges the Laity to be co-responsible in the
Church’s evangelization for the actualization of the Mission of Christ and the Holy Mother
Church, as deduced from the Code of Canon Law on
To fulfill her Mission, the Church brings together the various lay groups under the Laity Council, so that through collective action, dialogue, and reflection on Church’s spiritual and social principles, insights might be formulated and ideas widely diffused for the furtherance of the growth of Body of Christ, the institutions, the Society, and the world.
Hence, that initiatives and actions also strongly include the continuous faith formation and education of the Lay faithful in the Catholic faith, scriptures, sacred traditions, doctrines, and dogmas.
The proposed would offer the Council that opportunity to actualize her co-responsibility in the call to evangelization, as well as, fulfill the Mission of Christ and the Church in Epe Deanery through our collective support.
2nd Edition Of The Epe Deanery Lay Leaders Spiritual/Pastoral Formation Seminar.
Date: Saturday 12th August 2023
Venue: Mater Ecclesia Monastry Sangotedo, Lagos.
The launching of the KYFP, was done during the event.
The Catholic faith, Spirituality, and her teachings are unique, and require a deep reflection and continuous studying. It lies greatly in the four deposits of faith of the Church; the Sacred scriptures, the Catechism of the Catholic Church (CCC), the Vatican II Council, the Code of Canon law, as well as other encyclicals as issued by the Pope.
In recent times, it has been observed that Catholic families, the Youths, and even the Children are losing the whole essence of Catholicism and hence, grow with shadow knowledge of the Catholic faith and her apostolate teachings, spirituality, sacred traditions, doctrines, and dogmas, and hence, barely benefit fully from the wealth of this unique faith. Also, the Youths and the Children, as future of the Church, are the worst hit, as they are vulnerable and so much exposed to the polarized teachings of the world order. In them lies the growth of the faith of Catholic Church. Therefore, continuity and consistency are keys to the existentiality of the Catholic faith.
The proposed is designed to help the Youths,
Children and even the adult to build and affirm their knowledge of the Catholic faith and her
teachings through an organized competition amongst the Youths and Children across all
Parishes in the Deanery.
With this deep knowledge of the faith gained through this program, they would stand firm to keep building on the apostolate actions as handed down by the Fathers of the faith, and defend it undoubtedly till their death.
It would also be a platform to galvanize the unity, bonding, vibrancy, and interest of the Catholic Lay faithful in Epe Deanery, especially amongst the various Groups in the Church, particularly, the Youths and Children.
It would give our Youths the opportunity to share their knowledge, skills and passion in the service of God as they grow.
They would willingly evangelize this faith to the world, and by this, key into the Mission of Christ and the Holy Mother Church.
The
The Project would be driven by the Epe Deanery Laity Council (DLC) but sponsored by the Ajah Sub Council of the Knight of St. Mulumba (KSM) within Epe Deanery (though they are yet to give us a positive response). This choice was carefully made due to the very evident strong will of the highly esteemed Knights of St. Mulumba (KSM) to support, defend and strengthen the Catholic Faith all through the years.
